Psychiatric Services for Adults

Our inpatient adult psychiatric program is designed to provide rapid stabilization in a carefully structured, safe, medically appropriate environment established with appropriate support and tools within a full continuum of care, providing behaviorally defined therapeutic goals, programming and encompassing psychiatric services.

The Adult program provides two levels of care for inpatient psychiatric treatment.

  1. Intensive Treatment Unit
Offers close supervision for patients who are in need of more structure, due to their medical or emotional status.
  2. High Functioning Unit
Provides group activities in a structured environment, that are specific to the patient's individualized needs, be it either through psychiatric track or dual diagnosis track.

Benefits of Program:

  • Full schedule of groups, educational events and activities 7 days a week.
  • Medical evaluation within 24 hours of admission.
  • Multi-disciplinary treatment team approach with psychiatrist, physician, adjunctive therapist, social workers, and at times a chemical dependency counselor or dietician.
  • Addictionologist used for detoxification treatment protocol.
  • One year free aftercare group offered, held weekly. The focus of the groups is to ease the transition from hospital to home, work, and social environment.
  • Family involvement is encouraged when possible.

What you can expect from the treatment program:

Psychotherapy

  • Patients receive four therapy groups per day, including psychoeducation, chemical dependency, process, and recreational activity groups.
  • Groups are facilitated by professional therapist, psychologist and chemical dependency counselors.
  • Families are entitled to at least one, 45 minute family therapy session to address issues of immediate concern and plans for follow-up treatment
  • Family Therapy groups are also available three times a week.

Psychiatrist

  • Will meet with the patient every day to assess progress
  • Will coordinate treatment with nursing and case managers
  • Will contact family once during patient stay. Further communication will go through the case managers.
  • Will be available to answer specific questions or concerns that cannot be addressed by the case manager.

Case Manager

  • To assist family/patient with discharge plans and follow-up care
  • To facilitate communication between psychiatrist and family
  • To arrange family sessions with a hospital therapist
  • To provide referrals for counseling, support groups, twelve-step resources and residential treatment when necessary.

Treatment Team
We believe a team approach is the most effective method to deliver quality care. The treatment team is led by a psychiatrist and often includes a licensed therapist, psychiatric nurse, activity/recreational therapist, clinical social worker, and mental health counselors. The treatment team offers not only their clinical expertise and experience, but also their concern and compassion.
